Political Economy Analysis of the Challenges and Opportunities for Women in Decision-making, Local Development, and Social Cohesion (Sierra Leone)

Search for Common Ground

Bodhi Global Analysis was contracted by Search For Common Ground (SFCG) to delivered a political economy analysis (PEA) report identifying and analysing factors influencing women's political participation in Sierra Leone. Primary research was conducted in three districts — Kono in the Eastern region, and Kambia and Tonkolili in the North and North Centre respectively — covering three chiefdoms in each of the districts. The study aimed to provide recommendations for the next phase of SFCG's project on enhancing women's roles in decision-making, local development, and social cohesion. Our analysis evaluated existing projects and addressed programming gaps to inform the next programme cycle, with the goal of improving women's political engagement in Sierra Leone. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, relying on focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and a mini survey for data collection.
