Baseline Study - Greening Red Cross and Red Crescent Disaster Risk Reduction

Philippines Red Cross

Bodhi conducted a baseline study for the Philippine Red Cross's (PRC) Greening Red Cross and Red Crescent Disaster Risk Reduction programme. The study aimed to gather information on current knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate change adaptation (CCA), and natural resource management. While the project was implemented in Jamaica, Philippines, and Vietnam, the study focused on three communities in the Philippines located in the Bohol province. Bodhi determined the status of project indicators and assessed the level of disaster preparedness among target communities. The mixed-methods approach involved both qualitative interviews, including key informant interviews and quantitative surveys. Collection was guided by AmCross’ standard instruments and the Community Disaster Readiness Checklist (CDRC) and the Disaster Risk Reduction-Baseline (DRR-B) instrument. Bodhi independently developed a National Society knowledge (NSK) tool from the DRR-B instrument. To assess community resilience and disaster preparedness, Bodhi implemented an adapted Community Disaster Readiness Checklist Assessment in each of the three target communities. This baseline research provided crucial data to inform programme implementation and establish benchmarks for measuring future progress and impact.
